Women's Human Rights

UNIFEM Women's Human Rights Program includes activities and projects that focus on women's empowerment through training, advocacy, and the promotion of women's human rights, institutional building and support to non-governmental organizations and aims at to advancing women's human rights in the following three areas:

  1. Eliminating violence against women and girls by investing in prevention, protection and advocacy strategies.

  2. Assisting in the effective implementation of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW).

  3. Enhancing the understanding of governments, advocates and UN partners of the intersection between human rights, gender and HIV/AIDS to strengthen responses to the epidemic.
